Former Energy Minister publishes Net Zero Review

Former Energy Minister, Chris Skidmore, has published his Net Zero Review, outlining the opportunities offered by Net Zero, and a set of clear recommendations to achieve those.

The review confirms the compelling opportunities that Net Zero offers. In short, Net Zero is the economic opportunity of the 21st century for which the benefits outweigh the costs. The cost of the wholesale price for electricity for example are now lower where the level of renewable generation is higher as illustrated in the following chart.

The review also highlights the importance of further expanding on-shore renewable energy generation, calling for Government, regulators and industry to set up a taskforce and deployment roadmaps with clear milestones to reach up to 70GW by 2035 and for the level of on-shore wind to increase to support the Net Zero grid by 2035.
